electric tyre pressure gauge/inflator
Hi guys and ladies
Any thoughts on whether there are any good plug-into-your-ciggie-lighter tyre inflators in the shops? Are they accurate? I get a bit jarred off with having to go to the local garage to keep checking and changing depending on loads I carry, especially when on average, 3 out of 4 are out of order GRRR!!!! Thanks for any info. Richard Whennell 855 T5 1995 |

RE: electric tyre pressure gauge/inflator
Hi Richard.
I got one free over 9 years ago with petrol tokens. I use it at least twice a month along with a cheap pencil gauge which alway have come out tops for value in the motoring mags. They are all cheap enough these days and are all fairly accurate anyway but the pencil type gauge keeps them right.

I have an electric inflator but the gauge on it is rubbish. I use a dial gauge I got from Halfords to check the pressures. Neither was expensive and the dial gauge is very much easier to use than a pencil one.

You are best if you do what the other guys told you.
The inflaters are ok,in fact I always carry one in the boot just in case. You cannot rely on garage gauges anyway,as how many times have you seen people just drop them on the floor?. Just dropping them can knock the reading out by 5 psi easily. You can get a digital gauge from Halfords for about £6. Vaughan |
