Angry Rumble sound from the front

Hi folks I am a newbee Volvo owner with a C70 T5 SE on a 07 plate. I have recently detected what I can only describe as a rumble like road noise from the front . It is not engine related as it is present when engine off and freewheeling. Could it be tyre noise from the Goodyear Egrip 92W XL tyres I had fitted a year ago now done 8000 miles ?

Try turning left and right when the noise is present, if it gets louder when turning right it's the left bearing and vise versa, 40 mph on a twisty road will show it.

Near side /left seem to fail first, must be all the drain covers the left wheel runs over.

Paul.
