Default Sunroof switch replacement?

Finally girded my bits to get into the sunroof mechanism on the V50. Seemed to be grimy but not actually under any strain: So it must be the switch that's shagged. Only the "forward" bit of the switch seems to work, and you can only shut or open the roof by going all the way through it's limit exploring system - so as soon as it hits the forward lip of the aperture it goes into reverse and that's how you get it to open.

Most confusing! So I have now ordered a whole new centre binnacle from ebay. Are there likely to be issues with "coding" the switch into the car, or is it just plug n pray?

an update: Anyone want to buy a V50 roof console unit? I cleared out the channelling aorund the sunroof earlier in the week and used some super-thin oil I found in a german tankstelle to lube the channel that has the spiral drive for the sunroof in it. I was sure the motor was not under special strain, but it must have been, because once the lube had soaked in a bit and I got all the dust and gack off the surrounding bits, the roof seemed to go through some kind of self-calibration exercise, going from fuuly-back to fully-raised and then to the exact closed position. Some of the trouble could also have been some quite impressive Lichen colonies around the edge of the seal with the roof metalwork - I think this car has spent the odd year in hibernation, at some point.

So now I have a working sunroof (even off the key remote!) and a spare central console unit. Deep joy.

now thats a result, and how does one get the remote to open the sunroof?
mine drops all 4 windows but i havent yet got it to open the sunroof

time to replace the bulbs for LED ones in the binnacle ? oh and what exactly is behind that big bit of plastic that is nearer the seats than the windscreen ,, that "panel" like looking part at the back,, as a semi cunning plan to use it to mount a holder for the phone,,,

The remote should close the sunroof but not open it.
