1.6 petrol or 1.6 diesel?

the 1.6 diesel is a little troublesome if not maintained well.

1.6 petrol is a ford/mazda engine and trouble free. 100bhp is just a little on the low side for a car this size. I would advice looking into the 2.0 or even 1.8 petrol. It does not really differ in fuel consumption between the three different models.

check the electronics. Check the oil level, some of the older engines have excessive oil consumption (pre 2006 models). Since the c30 is on a ford focus platform most of the focus issues are know with the c30 aswell. Motormounts and excessive play in the drivetrain. Check for noises during gear shifts.
