Default DMF worn?

Does anyone know what the symptoms are of a failing dual mass flywheel?
Also anyone know they best place to buy one? I know they’re expensive!

Mine went last year the symptoms for me were a knocking noise on tick over which at first only happened sometimes then gradually became worse over a few months to the point it was a loud knocking noise, put your foot on your clutch and noise disappears.the clutch was fine so no slipping just the banging noise.my car is a d5 engine so it was quite expensive £1750 at an independent that was for clutch slave cylinder and dmf Because of the labour costs involved they will want to replace your clutch as well it makes sense

Noise has now changed. Quietens down when clutch is pressed but whirring like crazy when it’s fully up. Clutch pedal also feels poor now.

Probably your CSC is giving up aswell now.
In the same boat , to be honest Just pricing around set for my car as my clutch pedal feels like a dead frog. Check Elk Performance website, so far got best quote off them. Also have a look on ebay, one seller sells full and OEM kits.
dealer prices are from outer space, I was just quoted 3x the price from a local dealership...

Might sound dumb but what’s a CSC?
I’m just hoping the gearbox isn’t damaged in any way now.
Got it booked in and quoted for £750 for flywheel and clutch kit including fitting.

CSC is the clutch slave cylinder that is inside the bell housing - to get to it basically you need to deatach box from engine so usually its it makes sense to do full kit at once (flywheel+clutch+cylinder). When CSC is going bad, the clutch pedal feels sloppy, sometimes doesnt want to come back up or has some delay in movement. I really hate the feel of my clutch pedal now as with every press I can just feel something is not right.
750 seem not bad but check what parts they are gonna use. Not sure how good/bad aftermarket kits are, I think OEM units are LuK anyway but 100% certain.

What do you think the grinding is on idle now? Release bearing smashed up? It goes when I press the clutch down. Oddly the heavy knocking and pedal vibration isn’t happening at the moment. Maybe the flywheel has jammed itself.

This was mine in the winter months, does it for about a minute till it's warmed up then stops.

Can barely hear it at all now the temperatures warmed up a bit.

It's a weird one as clutch behaves spot on....
