Default V40 XC Centre Console replacement

Hi all,

I purchased a 2014 V40 XC last year and unfortunately the previous owner has scratched some of the number keys on the telephone keypad, on the centre console.

I have contacted Volvo to ask for a price to repair and unfortunately they cannot replace numbers individually, only the full centre console (CCM as they refer to it) at a cost of £663 + labour, which is an expensive few buttons.

I would like this fixed as it drives me mad looking at it to be quite honest - it just looks horribly unsightly.

Can anyone offer any advise on a cheaper alternative or company who can replace individual buttons?

p.s. I've had a look on Ebay and can see an option at £200 from a 2015 Mark 3 Volvo. It does 'appear' to be the same, however other than asking the seller, is there any way to confirm what 'mark' version my 2014 volvo is, and confirm that it's a compatible option?

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

I think you may have to buy the whole unit. Likely it won't be plug and play, due to security reasons.

It will require a new unit programmed to the car. However if you do decide to go down this route it would be worth trying to pry one of the buttons off. You never know you might be able to just fit it back in, in which case the second hand unit would work for you. Just a thought.

How someone has damaged them so much I’ve no idea makes you wonder what else on the car they were careless with

I was thinking the same, what on earth did they do to the buttons?

Look on ebay for replacement sticky key caps. May do the job and will be a hell of a lot cheaper!
