Default V70 - Front window regulator/mechanism

I have a 2005 (54 plate facelift) and the front drivers side window mechanism needs repairing/replacing.

I've stripped the door panel and can see the mechanism is bent as expected.

I found a couple of great tutorials online but all seem to be for the earlier model. Does anyone know of a tutorial for the V70 II please?

I know I have to drill the rivets but would like a photo tutorial to give me a hand.

Also, I found used parts on eBay but unsure on exact model. Some say for 00-04, other say 00-07.

Appreciate any advice with thanks.

I replaced mine when I had my p2 V70. It’s straight forward enough you will see once you get the rivets out. You may have to leave the motor connected to move the mechanism so you can squeeze it out the gap in the door. I don’t have any pictures and it was a while ago now but main things would be

Obviously Try not to damage the window feeding in the new mechanism, I removed the glass completly if I remember correct.

Fit nee blue runners and lightly grease them with silicone grease.

The issue with my regulator was the ball joints had worn and the blue runners kept popping off. Used parts on eBay could be a gamble. I got mine from Huddersfield Volvo breakers. Just phoned him up and they new what I needed and sent it in the post. 45 quid rings a bell.

if it's of any use I had to replace drivers door window motor - mine is a 2005 model V70 - the 2nd hand part came from a 2002 model - they are the same

changing the whole motor assembly is quite straightforward - took off the weather strip and the glass out - and removed the window switch pack from the door card and connected back up so when the 'new' motor was installed I could move it as appropriate to allow the glass to be re-fitted

Many thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

Spoke to Huddersfield company and they have what I need so I'll probably order from there. I think this will be safe than trying to straighten the damaged unit.

The only bit I'm unsure of is drilling out the rivets and then replacing. I read than you need a special rivet tool or you can just use different bolts?

I re-fixed my motor with 'ordinary' rivets using an 'ordinary' rivet gun - and it's still in and working!!

Finally got around to having a good go at this. Old unit out, doesn't look like it would straighten so I followed advice and got another from Huddersfield Volvo.

Replacement arrived with no protection/packaging, just loose inside a cardboard outer :-( One of the scissor areas looks very slightly bent but I thought if it fits it it shouldn't be an issue.

Got the new part in and eventually got 3 rivets to hold, spot on.

Window attached, blue clips etc. All working fine, however......

When wind hits the top (fully up) it is immediately returning down again as if it senses an obstruction. It seems to slow half way as though it's getting a little resistance.

Anyone advice what this might be please? Praying it's not the replacement part!

My driver side window had a hesitation when going up and this was caused by the fabric in the front guide channel.
The window was going up/down at the wrong side of the fabric which caused it to slow down.

Try the calibration thingy

With the key in POS II, pull the fuse while the window is moving in automatic mode

Remove the key, wait with all doors closed for 60 seconds until you hear three relay clicks

Put the fuse back, place key in POS II and lower the window in automatic mode

At this point the calibration is complete
