Default XC60 mirror glass replacement and power fold issues

Evening. Looking for a bit of help and advise for replacing a damaged mirror glass on an XC60.

I was looking at a volvo replacement rather than a cheap stick on one.

How does the glass remove ? I've seen a guide for an S60 mirror cap replacement telling you to remove the glass first. I think the XC60 may need the cap removed first though.

Hopefully the part number will be on the back of the glass to get the correct one.

I've also got issues with power fold on the same mirror. Is it common for the motors to fail in these ?

Thanks in advance....

If the power fold is not working, was it damaged when the glass was broken ?

No. It's not folded on locking for a while. How the mirror glass got broken is a mystery too (in-laws car)

I had to replace one mirror on or last XC60 and then rebuild that after it came apart [same hit on garage wall issue!] from memory the heated glass pops out with some careful leverage and then just plugs in before you press the new one in and wasn't expensive to replace. Volvo will tell you only a whole mirror is available i.e. not just the motor but an independent could get the whole mirror [genuine parts] at about half the cost Volvo were quoting. I'm tempted to retrofit folding mirrors myself to our current XC60...good luck

Thanks, I found a Volvo document on how to replace the mirror caps, which shows how to remove the mirror glass first using a trim removal tool.

Popped the old one off this morning to try and get a part number. It looks to be just a standard heated glass with blind spot so I'll go on the hunt for a replacement now.

I might investigate the folding function when the weather improves.
