Have you considered the V90 Cross Country? Its only 1 inch less ground clearance than the XC90 and after that, lots of similarities. You'll get better fuel economy too, it'll handle better and the residuals aren't as strong - you can pick up a well specced, low mileage 2017 car for less that £30k and should really do everything that the XC90 can do, with the exception of the 3rd row of seats.

The missus likes SUVs, gone from a RR Sport and now drives a BMW X6 and I'm going to try and talk her into getting a V90 CC. As far as an all-rounder goes, the V90 CC is approaching 'perfect car' nirvana, and any SUV buyer should at least consider something like this IMO.

I had one on test for 4 days. I would agree it is a lovely car but very much noticably lower to the ground on the motorway, and the boot is noticably smaller too. I drove both XC90 and V90CC back to back over a good few days so good opportunity to compare.

To be honest we have our heart set on the XC90. We may consider the XC60 at a push.

Struggling however to find a petrol XC90 which has the safety features we want for close to 40K. Have a feeling the used car market is not what it once was!

If anyone knows anywhere other than auto trader, gumtree or car giant/car guru to look for a user XC90 please let me know.

The look is an acquired taste - it looks too long to my eye, whereas xc90 is universally great looking.
Cannot get 4zone climate or full air suspension and pa2 is not standard. Add much smaller boot and no third row - this car is not in competition with xc90. Just like xc60 it’s a completely different car. It’s only an alternative if all you are after SPA switchgear and engines.

The reason I suggested it was because it's around £15k cheaper, 2 years younger and less miles than the car the op was looking at. The used v90 cc is a great buy right now. Obviously the op isn't interested but I thought it was worth pointing out anyway, just in case.

I would strongly recommend playing around with 'Car Wow Used Cars" to see what results you get:

https://www.carwow.co.uk/blog/best-u...r-supermarkets

1. You can BUY a car from anywhere in the UK. Generally speaking though, you'd always have it serviced and maintained locally.

2. I would never buy a vehicle now without first checking what financial savings results come up with Car Wow. They can be surprisingly massive!

3. I do not have shares in Car Wow - but I wish I did.

Edit: After posting this up, I used my own link on here to see what results come up for an XC90. As I say, the results are truly amazing!
