Looking to read accurate fault code mostly engine, ABS also may be helpful.
I have a cheap none volvo reader which cant read the codes for the "engine system service required".
These were read on a £4000 snap on machine, in the local garage, but not keen to shell out that much!
I use an Apple MacBook, with a virtual machine (XP runs on this) that runs Vida. There are posts on this forum how to.

I bought a second hand ( £60 ) laptop with the required windows version already installed and then bought a Vida/Dice from Ebay.

Prior to this I used a BSR PPC Volvo Code reader which is a terrific bit of kit.

Rather than sell it when I bought Vida, I now keep it in the car all the time.

I would doubt it, the reluctor rings are required to send the speed signals to the ECU so that it knows what speed the car is travelling, if one of the rings are faulty the ECU won’t get the correct signal therefore it wouldn’t be able at know what speed you were going

Interesting. My cruise control doesn't work either. Are there only two reductor rings, one on each of the front wheels?

4 rings altogether, one at every corner. If you have it diagnosed you should be able to pinpoint which if any reluctor ring is faulty as it could be a number of things that cause cruise control not to work

No, you don't.
On my MacBook I use VirtualBox (free) running Windows 7 (about £4 for a licence from ebay) and run VIDA on that. You can 'pass through' the DICE USB device to the VM, works fine.
