Few Issues
First of all, Hi I'm new here after buying a XC70 that has some teething issues....
NS wing mirror looks as though its borked(it looks like its had a wollop at some point), can I pop the glass off to see if the motors gone and a new unit needed or just go ahead and get one and replace? ABS/brake assist service light is coming on one abs sensor has been replaced by the previous owner, I'm assuming check the three points previously mentioned(sensors/rotator wheel type things and the hub nut? Apologies for my useless description this is all from memory on a busy work day ) Also I need to buy some clips to secure the front bumper around the lower wheel arch...amazon? My drivers window is out of alignment....when the door is shut the window struggles but when its open it runs smoothly...? I'm very fortunate to have Duke st garage within a few miles in Oldham...I'd like to try to avoid going in for minor things if possible....help. |

For the first one try going here: https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=280829
Inspection for cracked ABS "pulse rings" seems always to be the answer. Common rusting on the hub swells, causing the rings to crack. The common advice adds, "do it soon" as a broken ring can damage a sensor. Yes, Amazon has lots of supplies listed. I suggest removing a good one and measuring its dimensions (diameter, length and style). One thing I'm happy over is that I live near an auto body supply shop which has a sample wall of such fasteners. As far as an out-of-alignment window goes....remove that panel, run the window and see what's happening. Bring a flashlight and wee mirror. Sorry to keep you waiting. You can get an 'anti skid service' message on an AWD car if the haldex unit is borked - can easily check be seeing if you can spin the front wheels up (shouldn't be able to if all is good)

All sorted by Duke St garage in Oldham/Shaw.
Full service/gearbox oil change....all panels put straight/secured(previous owner thought he was a diy mechanic, in reality he was a bodging ****wit) and the rear single seat was stuck down(seatbelt wouldn't release??). ABS/brake assist etc was a snapped reluctor ring. Waiting on a NS wing mirror from a scrappy or somewhere else as mines borked, so that will be done in time. Hopefully now it's been shown some care it will give me some good service over the years as I plan to keep it for some time. How accurate is the trip comp for fuel economy as I think its telling porkie pies. |

The fuel consumption read out is notoriously optimistic (mine is about 10% high). The ONLY accurate method is the keep records of a number of brim to brim fills and do the maths.
