Default SRS-0210 Fault

I have an SRS Service message on the dash and have read codes using VIDA and have an SRS-0210 DTC which is for the Front right hand impact sensor.

I've taken the Sensor off, connections look ok and i cleaned as far as possible. I've put a multimeter across the sensor and have a resistance of about 6 ohms.

I've cleared code on the Delivery tab, but it pops straight back again.

I've not checked connections back to SRS module yet - I was hoping it was going to be a simple sensor issue.

Any advise on next steps?
If i wanted to rule out the sensor (pn 8697422) completely by replacing with a new one can anyone prepare me for the shock price wise?

Thanks

Nick

Before worrying about replacement costs, Vida suggests that nearly all reasons for the code are short circuits, the other is a faulty sensor.
My guess is that a new sensor would be a couple of hundred pounds new or very reasonable from a breakers given their reliability. Maybe £20-30 ish?

You can type srs 0210 then select the fault tracing option in the search section of Vida or Section 884 of fault tracing in Vida gives the test procedure.

swap the sensors over and see if the fault remains on that side ...

Just swop sensors side to side and see if fault moves

Thanks all for the responses.

Swapped Left and Right sensors as advised and it looks like it confirms a sensor fault rather than anything else.

I have found a second hand one and ordered it.

One thing I'm interested to know is if using a second had one do I need to be concerned if the donor vehicle has been in a accident where the SRS has deployed as a result from a signal from the sensor. In other words after a smash do they reset or are they permanently latched?

Thanks
Nick

ABS crash sensors are normally really really simple devices.
And they are designed to be used multiple times, because a rapid decelleration under 10kmph will cause the decelleration sensor sensor to trigger, BUT the airbag will not go off at those speeds. And then the sensor has to be ready for the next use.

Thanks. Thought that was the case. Does beg the question why something relatively simply costs about £125

Once I've got a spare one fitted I might dissect the old one for interest.

Sensor swapped with a second hand spare (£33) and codes reset.

Happy me.

Thanks for the assistance.
