A light that shines out of the bottom of the door mirror on the outside so you can see where you're treading when you're getting in to the car.

Well, after running your XC70 for a year you get up one morning to find that some klutz has smashed the back cover off the passenger door mirror in the night. Hanging from two wires is a little plastic light that you’d never spotted - so you press the hitherto unpressed yellow button on the key don and the lamp lights up, along with the one in the bottom of the driver’s side mirror and illuminates the ground by the car door, thus allowing you to avoid any puddles as you climb in.

It’s quite lovely really!

Replaced the failed Volvo turbo control valve with a new Pierburg unit. No more fog horn noise when switching the car off.

Replaced all the glow plugs today with Beru GN045 plugs. The original glow plugs that came out were also made by Beru, Volvo part number 8631607.

I washed my S60 T5 and the missus’ V60 D4 R-design. She uses her car daily and it’s our weekend car because I have a company vehicle and hers is more economical so the S60 has been parked up for a year now. We don’t really need 2 cars but I’m loathed to sell it because it’s been a fantastic car that always puts a big smile on my face so I’ve insured it and hopefully taking it for an MOT next weekend to use it now and then. If it passes I might even put some new oil and spark plugs in her, not something I’m looking forward to as it’s 11 years old and done 126k on the original plugs

Oh absolutely; three tyres worn (I knew about, just wondering whether to invest in front wishbones) and a weak handbrake (really needs a new cable, but it does ‘roll’ onto it. Nothing I didn’t know about, it’s all chocolatey.
