Having noticed the rocker cover on my 740 is looking a bit oily of late I decided to fit a new seal on the oil filler cap, this turned out to be a bad move though as the engine dies after about 100 yards so I refitted the old one and now I suppose I'd better start looking at the engine breather-as soon as I find where it is!!!!

It's under the inlet manifold and easy to remove without taking the inlet manifold off, main issue on these is the pipes blocking with emulsified oil, mine used to do this quite often so I used to clean all the hoses once a year (usually around Easter) - Mike

That lovely white Beetle looks american spec to me, we had a saloon version and they have bigger indicator lenses on the wing which are used as sidelights when not indicating and the bumpers will have shock absorbers fitted too.

Mike, Rustee is right its a US car (from San Diego). All beetles had a 1600cc FI engine from 75 on in the US to meet emission regs and mine did have a cat when I got it but was knackered so I binned it. Mine was made on Dec 19th 1979 about a couple of weeks before production ended in germany and is a triple white model. Had it a while now and TBH the FI system on these is a bit prone to air leaks which can be hard to diagnose with all that air blowing around for cooling. Nice when it is working well though as it smooths out the flat 4 nicely

Took my nephew to leeds where he purchased a rather nice S70 on a'98 "R" plate , it has tax until the end of october this year and mot until april next year. It needs a liitle paint on one rear quarter panel and a ding taking out of the nearside front wing, other than that a very nice car for very little money at £350.00 .
The forum should see a new member very shortly.

We have an old american engine vent cowl and some lamps lurking somewhere plus a few badges if you ever need parts.
