Wonder if anyone has experience specifically with this set of springs?

I'm more interested in the reduction in body roll from stiffening than in the lowering.

Are progressive rate springs regarded well for road use?

I have just changed a -40 set of springs back to a -20 rally spec set from Amazon cars, I didn’t like the feel of the -40
If your interested in the low mileage set of -40 pm me, have saloon and estate available

That would depend entirely on the actual spring.

I run the Amazon Cars road springs on my 142 which are progressive on the front. Compared to the original springs on the 140 they are decidedly firm; but, not nearly as brutal as the Lejofors -40mm single rate springs that I had. The Lejofor springs were exceedingly effective at reducing body roll and at shaking the car to pieces over anything but perfect pavement. I expect most of the difference was due to the actual spring rate on the Lesjofors being much much higher than the spring rate on the Amazon Cars springs rather than the fact that the Amazon Car springs were progressive.

The progressive wind is a nice feature which may make for higher initial movement on initial compression which can reduce jarring over smaller road fluctuations. However, if the spring rates are really high it will still be a brutal spring. So, being progressive may or may not be useful. See if you can find out what the spring rates are on the Direnza springs and compare that to the original springs and the offerings from others. If the progressive springs have really really high rates on both initial and final compression the progressive feature may not give you a jar free ride. I have a 140 so you will need to seek advice from others on appropriate spring rates for the Amazon.

Thanks Ron and great to hear from you! It is indeed I. Must have been in the last century now when that description was coined! I am back with a really rotten P1800 to restore (old habits die hard). I'll be on here again soon no doubt.

So the last thing I want is a bone shattering ride quality, in fact the softness of the stock springs is quite nice. However the body roll I'm getting is excessive to the point I lose all confidence in long sweeping bends such as on tight motorway flyovers.

It sounds like the Amazon cars rally springs are ideal and before I made the original post I'd ordered a set on their website. However they instantly got back to me and said they were no longer available at the advertised price. Frankly I'm not willing to sink the best part of £500 which is the new asking price.

Not sure what else is available that gives flatter handling while retaining some comfort.

Almost temprted to lop a coil off each corner.

I've got -30mm progressive springs all round, from Classic Swede, on my saloon, corners and rides pretty well. Surprises people who are used to modern cars. Regards, Andy.
