Question Handbrake Warning light

Hi there,

Help urgently needed. I have an xc90 D5 Sport (08) and for the last two years I have intermittingly had the parking brake warning light come up when driving. I have had the volvo garage look at this at each service and when any other work has been required - So far volvo cannot replicate the problem or find out how to fix it, as far as they are concerned there is no problem.

In the last 6 months when the parking light comes on a bleeping noise happens too! Strangely the light is not on all the time when you are driving, just occasionaly. It can be stopped by stopping the car putting the handbrake on hard and releasing it. However this only stops the problem for a short driving distance!

If anybody has any ideas or has seen this problem before please contact me as I'm at a complete loss and volvo don't seem to have a clue....

I'm sure I'm stating the obvious but the light and beeping sound only occurs on mine when I forget to release the handbrake and drive off so is yours just doing the same? ie no fault just the design of the car!?

Have they checked the switch on the footbrake to make sure it's working correctly?
The beeping is to remind you the brake is on when you forget to take it off.
