XC90 Grille styles?

They probably bought the new one for their car, cleaned up the old and boxed it the new box...

Most plastic car parts have the batch date on the rear, hence you see these dates.

Nope, it's absolutely brand spanking new, I am sure of that. To the point it still had the original protection over the badge, protective wrapping & was mint. To clarify the product code on the box matches what was in it.

It seems that I (in my own ignorance !) bought what is the grille style for models up to 2006. The only 'error' made by the seller, was to state it was brand new & for a 2006-2010 model when I questioned the age of the donor vehicle/condition.

I guess for what I paid for it...it's still a decent deal. It's fitted & staying on for now anyway.

The big round badge grill Volvo sell as an accessory is the same as fitted to the new models. My original 03 grill was solid in one piece and so is the new one. The accessory is Part. No. 31290544 and it fits all models.

I've just been out and checked the car, as that info Simon has didn't sound right, and my chassis no is 020076 and the big badge grill fitted just fine so that bit about fitting from chassis no 549676 is wrong.

Roy...I think you mean Chris, not Simon?

Anyways, I think that Chris just mean that cars from 549676 have the big badge grille fitted as standard.

I've concluded that all model year grilles will fit any XC90 regardless of age.

Am I wrong to think you are suggesting that I can maybe just swap out the badge & not the complete grille? That thought had crossed my mind before but I wasn't sure you could.

Chris got the info from Simon at FRF.

Yes I've been thinking why Volvo would give that info to Simon and came to the conclusion that it is a list of when different grills were fitted to models by chassis no. Not a list of what fits what.

The badge is integeral with the grill. ie moulded as one piece. only the chrome surface is seperate. So no, you have to have a complete grill.

The accessory marketing dept says the new one will fit all models. But I guess any XC90 grill will fit any date XC90 as the opening and fixings have never changed since it was designed.

Ah I see...that all makes sense now. I might still try to pick up a big badge version at some point.
