Radio Speaker Help Please
The speaker in the drivers door on my 05 XC90 has an intermittent fault.
Occasionally I notice it is not working but when I have a fiddle with the controls and swap between cd/radio it springs into life. Any ideas anyone? I thought it could be a loose connection either at the amp or at the speaker. In either case how difficult is it to get to these? I believe the amp is under the drivers seat. It this correct? Do I need to remove the door panel to get to the speaker? I don't really want to go to the trouble of disconnecting the battery as reading the forum people seem to have problems when they do this. Any help appreciated. Cheers |

If by fiddling with the car settings brings it back to life it sounds like the source (head unit) has the fault namely pre amp.
The door grill should just pry off to check those connections. I havn't had the amp out but think as you say its under the seat with a few screws keeping it there. Be carefull though as there might be airbag stuff related down there also, so battery disconnect required if that is the case and leave it for 15 mins. Head units do come up on ebay aswell, under cd player or dashboard. |

Same as my 04 xc90!
I "think" its a bad connection on the cables where they run through the rubber sleeve between the body and the door. I think lots of people won't realise this as the tweeter is so loud the defunct largr speaker is not noticed! I wiggled the rubber sleeve and mine restarts. |

Thanks for the replies.
Raife, yes you are right it looks like the door socket connection. Just pushed it in and everything seems OK. Sounds like a common fault. Thanks again. John |
