Default Roof bars

So I'm trying to find some roof bars to carry all our clutter on holiday. Second hand genuine Volvo seem hard to find, so I'm looking at various other sources. I have some of Argos finest "streetwise" brand, which is fine for a pair of step ladders, but I'm not confident with my sea kayak and a roof box ( yet to buy ). I'd be looking for the T track system as the Thule cycle and Kayak carrier I have utilise this system. Has anyone any experience in other brands of roof bars ?, so far they all seem to be poor quality ( judging by price ), or far more expensive than Volvo ( Halfords ). I'm not being tight btw, just I'm not flush with cash following a lul in work lately.

I have used Thule on my V70, they are quite reasonably priced at online stores (Thule at Halfords is expensive like you say).
