Default V70 ~ end of the road?

I have owned my Volvo V70 (2009) 1600 diesel for nearly five years without hardly a problem.
Recently the car kept cutting out and unable to drive. My local garage (used over 35 years now, so trusted) advised that it was a switch on the Fuel Pump and as l also that the DPF was blocked.
After trying to resolve the problems, I was told that the problems mentioned had caused the injectors to be damaged.
The cost to replace these would be in excess of £1500 and then it would be advisable to have a replacement Timing Belt as a precaution. (Another £200+)

I am unable to meet these costs and it seems that I will have to dispose of the car, unfortunately I have as another 9 monthsvof finance to pay of a 5 year credit agreement.

I'm no mechanic, but would appreciate any advice that could reduce the repair cost and keep it on the road? It has been an excellent runner up to now and it will be a massive blow if I have to let it go.

I reside in Tyne & Wear area(NE38)

You’re in the section for the earlier V70.

Are you sure they said injectors, not injection pump? Double check that.

The injection pump (the High pressure fuel pump) is driven by the timing belt on these 1.6 diesel engines. And with your garage specifically mentioning replacing the timing belt 'as a precaution', it seems likely they are talking about the injection pump, not the injectors (which is unlikely all 4 fuel injectors would need replacing).

If they DID say the injection pump, then you can fit a 2nd hand pump to keep costs down.

That 1.6 diesel engine is fitted to tonnes of different makes and models of car, its an extremely common engine so used parts are plentiful... My advice if it IS the injection pump, is to find a pump on ebay from ANY 1.6d Volvo (C30, S40, V50, V70) of the same model year (2009) as yours. Have them fit that.
