S60 2004 d5..power steering leak
Found my p/s fluid had lowered each week. Found the area of the leak which seems to be one of the pipes where they enter the rack. My questions are
1 is this common 2 is it just an o ring on the pipe gone 3 can the o rings be changed without dropping the subframe...if so tips please 4 finally the fluid is not green and i must admit to putting atf in it..would/could this be causing the issue

You'll need to make sure it is coming from the pipe seals - my last V70 had a leak from the top seal where the input shaft goes in. It's hard to see because it runs down the back of the joint. I'd hoped it was the pipe seals to begin with...
Eventually, after much topping up, taking it out and sending it off to Kiley Clinton for refurb sorted that. The pipe seals can be done without dropping the subframe, coming in from the wheel arch with the plastic liner above the driveshaft removed. It is tricky, but possible. If you've got screw in fittings, shortening some spanners to fit in the limited space helps a great deal. |

Purged the fluid out and replaced with green stuff. Bunged some seal in it so will see how it goes.
Car is a 2004 so really not worth the effort with 150k on the clock
