Default High beam problems

Hello, i have a weird problem with my high beam lights..i have 1996 Volvo V40 with upgraded headlights h4 to h7, but I dont believe this is connected with this problem ..(i hope :P). So, i was driving at night and due to oncoming traffic i had to switch high beams on and off pretty often and suddenly they stopeed staying in. If i pull the lever and hold it, then they work as long as i keep holding it. I had the same problem once before which finally caused no headlights at all..so i changed one fuse in engine room(thermofuse 20A if i name it correctly) and everything worked just fine.. since now. I believe that this constant on-off switching caused it?
Any suggestions?

Greetings from Estonia,
Volvomees.

Its not uncommon for the switch to go wrong. Sometimes its a small plastic peg that comes out of a grove, but its a real fun job of removing the steering wheel to take it out to strip it. There fairly cheap on ebay / breakers.

Might be..but the weird part is that if i put high beam on with a cold motor then they work..and if i drive a little bit and take them off and try to put on again then they stop working properly .

Hi,

I don't know if it is related but I could not get my main beam to stay on last night but it worked when I held the lever back - turned off as soon as I let go.

I have only just turned the DRL's on this week and that's what it was. I turned the light selector to headlights then the main beam stayed on.
