Engine whirring after running for a mile
We've had our S40 (53 reg) for about 18 months and it's started making an intermittent whirring type sound about 5-10 minutes after starting up and continues throughout the day. It seems to be getting louder but our usual mechanic hasn't found the cause of the fault.
I wonder if anyone here has had a similar problem and could point us in the right direction to get it fixed. Apart from that it runs fine and is the best car we've ever had. Thanks |

Hmmm mines a 2001 Y reg, done 65k and.... I live in Bolton! Lol
Fancy meeting and comparing noises? Mine seems to become apparent after a good 10/15 mins and I can only hear it on idle with a window down or door open |

Could be your vvt pulley my 52 plate v40 was the same till i had it done. If you use the search on the site and search for vvt pulley there is one of the post with a vidio/audio clip of what it sounds like. Have a listen and if yours sounds the same thats what it is i had my cam/aux belt replaced with mine as there have to be remove to do the job is the noise 2 seconds obn two seconds off.
