Default V60 D3 remapp

I am considering buying a 2013 , V60 D3 which I understand is 136 HP and 5 cylinder .
I have sounded out my nearby chip tuning guy who believes he has to take out the ECU to do so and is not sure where it is located .
Is a remap to say 163hp practical and if it cant be done through the port , then where is ECU located ?

it can be done via OBD will be more expensive usually, personally I just don't like the idea of opening up the ECU!

Its practical, it makes a big difference to the car, some will offer 185hp /453nm torque on these, I've driven one before and after and its much nicer imo.

If your concerned about aftermarket maps I the polestar takes it to 163 also and its just a software update with Volvo, if its auto makes the gear changes a bit nicer too

These five cylinder engines came from the factory with Bosch EDC17 ECU which was locked and could not, at the time, be mapped through the OBDII port, They had to be benched.

I have the older version of the D3 engine the OP is talking about, it was remapped in 2015.

Local chip shop is well regarded and is offering 185 bhp and 480 nM with up to 10-15% improvement in economy (Depending of course upon the driver ) I am a pretty easy on the throttle kind of guy so wonder what is reallistic . Today for example on a 180 mile round trip I saw 65 mpg average on the screen at one point and at the end of the trip which involved a bit of rush hour traffic on the way back I was looking at 56.4mpg average round trip . Can this reallistically be improved upon??
