Default Volvo T5 850 For Sale 22000 miles in 24 years!

My family have owned Volvos continuously for the last 60 plus years. My mother (89 years) has a 1994 Volvo T5 Saloon which she hasn't been able to drive at all for the last 6 years and we need to sell it. Its done about 22,000 miles! We have looked after it and had it serviced/ mot'd regularly. It's an awesome drive! I have no idea what the demand would be. Can anyone advise me on what to ask/ best sale method etc.? Thanks Stephen

I would get it cleaned up , that paintwork will come up like new , and get it to a classic car auction properly advertised . you might be pleasantly surprised , these cars are very few and far between now . especially in that condition ....

Default Registration plate

Is the registration plate personal to your family? If it is then get it transferred or put on retention before you do anything else.

If the car has been SORN for the past six years then you will need to get it inspected (MOT'd) to move the plate, but don't leave this until later as it can otherwise cause all sorts of problems regarding "ownership" of the plate.

If the plate has no sentimental value then all well and good and may enhance the sale of the car but many people have been caught out by this and I speak from personal family experience.

Thanks for numberplate comment. I hadnt thought about that. My father got the plate when he bought the car for my mother but if its a choice between putting it on retention or letting it go with the car then the latter will win! Stephen

Thats the way to get what it is worth , who knows what it will reach , £5000 ? more ? A 1967 hillman imp with delivery mileage still in its plastic coverings went for £25000 earlier in the year , classic cars are worth serious money now .
