Default wipers wont stop

Hi Folks ..I was driving back from wales and used the windscreen wash/wipe to clear a bit of light drizzle from the screen and they would,nt switch off struggled to find somewhere to pull over, mean while the bottle of screenwash empyted the whole lot, over the screen, car, roof , wipers spashing it everywhere cars in a right mess It only stopped when i pulled the fuse .... so wipers / screenwash is perminatly live ... any ideas ? could it be the stalk switch? currently I have ether continous wash wipe or non at all aaaagggghhhhh

Bob,

Do you have HEADLIGHT WIPERS???? ... if so you'll find two small plugs down by each light .. UNPLUG em !!!! ......

On my old 850 I found these disconnected .. so Me being ME I plugged em in again .. my windscreen wipers set off at an alarming rate .. Seemingly if theres a "Short" in the Headlight Wipers it also triggers the Windscreen wiper as well

Bet yer that cures it mate

Keith

I imagine auto park +12v from the headlight wipers is feeding back up the wiring to to the washer cct and then into the main wipers. More than likely a mechanical fault in the headlamp wiper mechanical assembly switch being in the on position.

Like Keith says, thanks for posting back. Here is Jods link for repairing your motor. Or you can often get a S/H from the bay for £15-£20. Make sure you get the right side though, because they are "handed"

As above. Or if you need more help, post back and I can point you to the thread where I did mine, complete with pictures and explanation. More fiddly than difficult, but I have to tell you the passenger side is way easier than the driver's side!

Cheers,

Oh yes!!! The drivers side is a bit of a pain! But I found that by loosening the wing slightly it made life a lot easier. ( Told you I was crap! )

I assume the backs are loose, 2 attempts at removing these could prove fatal...
