Default Exhaust options?

Hi, I changed both the centre and rear silencer sections on my Amazon exhaust earlier this year (standard mild steel from Brookhouse) and the centre silencer has already developed a fault - a loose baffle which rattles when cold and then seems to choke the flow a bit when warm. Guessing it was never welded together properly in the first place.

I don't do many miles at the moment (only about 1,000 miles this year so far in total) but I can't ignore the problem. I'm thinking I have three options:
1) change the centre section again
2) see if an exhaust specialist would cut it open and repair it (do people do this?)
3) go the whole hog and get a custom job.

The car is an automatic, which means the front pipe is not available off the shelf in any case, though as far as I know it's in decent condition. I don't want anything that makes a big sporty noise as that wouldn't suit the car - it just needs a nice, smooth flowing, well-made exhaust that's going to last.

I have a local garage that offers custom exhausts, but I haven't asked them yet - I thought I'd see what advice you folks might have first.

Any wisdom, please?

Cheers,
Andy.
