Roof bars
I'm in the market for some roof bars for a MY16 XC60.
I've previously had the Thule square bars on a previous car and know they whistle quite a bit. I'm looking at either the Whispbars or Thule Wing bars on roofboxcompany at the moment as they are of similar price. Does anyone have any experience of these and their motorway noise? Cheers! Guy |

I use Whispbars on my S40, quiet enough to leave on permenently.
Will hopefully be changing to an XC60 soon so will retain the same bars and just get the fitting kit for attaching them to the XC60. |

Fantastic, thank you. Sounds like they are both better on the ear/eye/wallet[mpg wise] than the ones I have used previously |

I have Thule wing bars and love them
very little noise at motorway speeds. I am a kayaker so leave the bars on all the time - haven't noticed much difference in MPG either.

Thanks James.
It sounds like the wing type bars are a clear improvement over the older square/oval type. I think I am swaying towards the Whispbar at the moment, the non removable rubber that fills the T slot sounds like it is less of a faff than the Thule removable strips. Now, to see if I can find a discount code for roofboxcompany! |

Just note that the wing bar now also has the non removable rubber that fills the T slot, at least my ones I bought a few months back had this type.
I found spraying some silicon spray on the rubber helped the T into the slot. In fact I could slide the bike racks in and out of the slot with the T piece attached to the bike rack, made it very quick work once they had been setup once. |
