My "other" issue is the stop/start which has only operated twice in 3 months. I will have to take it up with the local agents.

Have you interrogated the infotainment Drive-E screen to find out why? My stop/start is usually inactive because of 'electrical' issues, either 'the battery being too cold or charging', although it was working today for the first time in about a month!

Throttle body actuator. xc60 with VEA 2 litre engine. Seizes up with soot and makes a nasty noise on start up and switch off. motorway miles and decent runs made no difference. considered ignoring it as my mpg went up to 49mpg !
£300 part but sourced second hand unit from a 2018 car. |

Had the oil changed today and it came out looking like metallic paint!!!!! |

Volvo reliability
I have exclusively owned and driven Volvo's for the past 23 years thanks to an ABS failure in a famous German brand vehicle in an emergency situation which almost cost me my life.
This thread is the "bitching tread" - only people who have had issues post on here and it creates a very skewed negative impression of the brand ... BUT ... the relatively small sample of people who post here as a percentage of Volvo owners is NOT statistically relevant. It does not mean that I have not had my fair share of issues with my Volvo's, but then these issues were no worse and in fact almost always less or less severe than the issues friends and colleagues experienced on their German or exclusive Japanese brand vehicles. My current concern is a diff whine on my XC60 - but considering that this XC60 was designed and built when Volvo was owned by Ford, and the underpinnings of the XC60 is the same as the Freelander 2 in which - according to the forums for that car - diff noise and diff failures are quite common, I cannot really blame Volvo One swallow does not make a summer - isolated failures occur on ALL brands and not only on Volvo's ... and the sample size of this forum is statistically insignificant! (PS - this post is deliberate to invoke discussion!)

XC60 Passenger Window mechanism sticking
Just having problem with passenger window mechanism sticking (groaning). It goes down OK but comes up 50% and then groans to get much further.
Tried both driver and passenger buttons and the issue is identical. The glass "seems" out of alignment and so, I tried pushing gently, from side, and then using button. This works well but I have to be at the window to do it (So, no good on motorway!) Looked at other posts and the comments seem to be about electrical failure, rather than some kind of mechanism strain... Any one else had this and(even better) sorted it? |

Book time for maintenance means there's a problem? Codes 161
I thought it just means that the car needs to go in for an oil change, etc. and tried to reset it according to these instructions below, and kept getting the reset beep, but it wouldn't go away.
The code 161 and a wrench symbol and 021 Anyone can heslp and how can we remove it ... |

Powered wing mirror folds out past the normal stop point so is useless. Something broken but can't see what.
