Do you know what type of bulb the Sidelight strips take. I have an older S40 (with new headlights) so dont have the manual and dont really want to take the lights out to check.

What does it say in your manual?
Thanks
J

They are 501 W5W, the ones linked below give the strip a good effect on the V50:

or if you want to take the risk the ones below are brighter, I had to file the sides of the PCB (5 min job) to squeeze them into the lamp holder of my V70:

these are canbus bulbs, I'm pretty sure you do not need canbus bulbs.....been there, had them fail, replaced with SMD wedge bulbs which are cheaper, contain more SM chips and are brighter!!

I took the headlamp out and yes they are quite fiddly to get the bulbs out.
Basically you need to remove the top round cover and back cover as well. Use a small screwdriver to wiggle whilst pulling on the wire and the bulb holder will slide out.
I tried a spare LED I had but it didnt look that good as it wasnt capsule, more of a direct beam led bulb. I guess I need to search for some decent capsule type LEDS.

Cheers
J

Jonnie,
Higgy and myself tested those DRL's this afternoon.
Not really dark enough to get a decent feel for the brightness but in the daylight, they very bright.

I just connected the wires directly to the battery to test and was very impressed.

They're the flexible strips which are self adhesive on the reverse.
I'm toying with the idea of mounting on the top side of the fog grilles.
I'll get some pics later this week weather permitting.

Yes can confirm that I was very impressed with the brightness of the LEDs this afternoon....keep in mind it was a rough test in daylight so I think that they would look really cool once on the car!....

Cheers JB/Higgy,

I installed the sidelight super white bulbs (into the drl strip between main beam and dipped) but they look more like small spotlights rather than spreading the light right the way through the built in led strip. I would have thought it would as they are glass all round like the halogens. Think I'm going to put the halogen ones back in for now unless someone has tried another type of bulb?

The standard halogen has gone back in.

One of my DRL LED strip bulbs has gone, see pic. I cant find my receipt from Halfords.

Hoping Higgy or JB can put up some pics of their completed LED DRLS so I can make a decision as to whether to buy another set of prisms.

Also spotted these on Ebay, they can be recessed. I need something that will last and doesnt need replacing every few months.
