Default Gear selection

Hi,I bought a 1966 Duett last week. I drove it from Yorkshire to Hollyhead, to bring it to Dublin.
The car has been dry stored for 5 years.
It's very difficult to select gear when the engine is running.
It selects gear fine when not running.
Any suggestions?
Cheers

Plus wear in the pedal linkage. Very common and it causes a lot of lost motion between the pedal and the clutch actuating lever.

RT;

Welcome to this forum!

Your shifting symptoms sound like inadequate travel of the throwout/release bearing or clutch linkage...I'd check for wear or lost motion, and touch-up adjustment.

Need for adjustment is confirmed by turning OFF motor and trying to shift (when things are not turning)...if it shifts a lot easier, again check and adjust clutch linkage.

Good Hunting from Connecticut!
