Default Rear wiper rest position

Finally fixed the rear wiper on my 98 70r, its never been functional since I bought the car. I've replaced the wiper motor, mechanism and reconnected the wiring in the door hinge/plastic cover, the only issue is that the resting position of the wiper arm seems to be vertical (i.e. pointing straight up).

When I first installed the arm horizontally it rotated 1/4 anti-clockwise first so I assumed it needed to be installed vertically, from this position it turns 1/4 anti-clock wise, 1/2 clockwise and then finally 1/4 anti-clockwise to its original position.

In short, does anyone know if this is right? or how to correct it?

the arm wasn't in the right position at rest, loosened the arm from the motor and aligned it like the image, quick test and it was fine, all tightened up and ready for the next job
