Since the brake position sensor was one of the codes that flashed up in my recent DICE run, can someone tell me what it actually does because I feel no difference in the driving or braking!

I believe the cruise control is related to this switch, and perhaps other components

I got knocked of my motor bike 34 years ago and snapped the nerve in my left arm/shoulder the one that controls the muscle that lifts the arm up to head level, so I can not lift it up high now the muscle wasted away in six months, I had never had any pain, but 34 years latter in has started giving me a lot of pain, I did have a xray 2 months ago and they said it was rotator cuff disease, but I don't know what I can do for it, I am seeing my doc next week, but like you say working on the car makes it bad, good job mine is my left arm, if you do not have a cordless impact wrench, get one it will really help,(get your son to get you one for working on his car) Dave |

The brake position sensor allows the abs unit to know how quickly you pressed the pedal (position wrt time being speed after all). That’s important to determine whether it’s an emergency brake situation:- if the throttle is closed quickly and the pedal depressed quickly, the abs unit determines an emergency situation and will do everything to throw the anchors out whilst there is still a displacement on the brake pedal; it does this by applying the maximum brake pad pressure it can find from the ABS pump, largely ignoring the pressure of your foot on the pedal, controlling it with regard to the ABS sensors and acceptable rates of deceleration. As soon as you allow the pedal to lift regular function returns and brake pad pressure is proportional to pedal pressure.
