I have just had a key replaced under warranty. My car was one year old.

The "shell" would not hold firm and would slide forward & then pop open.

Most annoying. The keys are circa £250 new seemingly !

The covers on both my keys move slightly giving a cheap feel to them. I don't like the design of the keys at all with their small buttons on the side instead of man-sized buttons on the face.

I agree - A month since having the car, and it's rare I'll not need to look at the key to find the button.

There's no way way to tell which way up the key is (without looking), and it's just a fumbling bumbling pain to unlock it!

I haven't notice the covers moving on mine, and don't mind the feel of it, but agree the buttons are not easy to find or the key easy to orientate. However, I don't find it too much of a problem as i rarely use the buttons, instead using the keyless entry and boot kick. The only time I do sometimes use the key is if I'm approaching the car and want to start the boot opening, so that its lifted by the time I get to it.

I seldom use the buttons but the last time I tried to illuminate the area around the car on a dark street I accidentally set off the panic alarm from 30 metres away. The only way to stop it then is to get in the car and start it. Even unlocking it doesn't cancel the alarm.

The design of the key with respect to the buttons is crap. End of.

Form over function. No way to distinguish which button is which without looking at it. Perhaps almost go as far as to say t's the most badly designed part of the whole car! Yet forms the first interface between you & the car....odd.
