Hi All,

Seems rumours have started on the details of the new XC90 that will launch in 2022.

Mild hybrid, PHEV and BEV with 100kWh battery.

Interesting - what is Highway Pilot - is this the new name for pilot assist?


Thats interesting - I wonder which way around this is as LEVC is a much smaller concern I (possibly incorrectly) assumed they were taking the technology from Volvo / Geely and using it in the taxis. It is interesting if its the other way around and the ICE in the new XC90 is will be just a fancy generator!

Pilot Assist will remain in non-motorway/highway/freeway situations albeit much improved.

Highway Pilot a new additional feature which is technically Level 4 Autonomy when it comes to self-driving cars. It will self-drive the car on motorways/highways/freeways. It will outperform all Teslas as Elon Musk does not believe in LiDAR for cars (but he does so when it comes to his space ships).

It won't be available at launch but the hardware will be there. The software will come later.
