Update on my engines issues and i have my car back now.

New Starter motor and Flexplate fitted.

I am still not convinced by Volvo Customer Care UK given i have had very little verbal communication.

However after escalating the issue through my local dealer and the service manager. A suitable resolution was reached regards to the contribution from Volvo UK and the dealership. So i cannot fault my local dealer in helping sort this.

As previously mentioned the danger of running cars without a valid warranty. Even if you car has been maintained as per regular Volvo Service intervals.

Glad you got it sorted, weigh up the cost of repairs vs the depreciation on trading it in at 3yrs old for a new one and decide if you are better off….

It’s the dealer who should put in the work with Volvo and legally your contract is with the seller not the maker and the dealer could choose to cover the cost if they wished. Volvo contributing will help but usually only with parts costs and the bulk of the cost is the labour.

I was quoted £500 by the dealer to replace the rear brakes genuine parts were £160 my chances of getting help with an issue have gone out the windows but I have saved £1k already by not using the supplying dealer (but have used genuine parts)

Good news is you car now has a new starter and has probably appreciated in value compared to 6months ago…..
