Driver door trim removal 2012 V70 D3
The locking indicator button on my V70 appears to have become tight in its door card surround. Sometimes it locks/unlocks straight away, other times l have to press the fob button 3 or 4 times before actually functioning correctly. I have tried furniture polish on the button which does help but it does not last so l now wish to remove the door card and hopefully see what is causing the problem. I cannot see any fixings and all YouTube videos are for earlier models which h are very different. So can anyone help with instructions for removing the drivers door panel/card.

It may have changed in the facelift, but I thought it was the same throughout the P3 era?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdvsSG9TV4I There's a cap in the centre, sort of up and behind the handle. Pop this off and there's a torx. Two on the front doors, but just one on the rears. Don't tighten too hard, it's plastic and does crack (guess how I know...)

It sounds the the little motor inside the lock is failing, they are a common failure. Whole lock costs about £160 from volvo, but you can get just the motors from ebay china for about £20 if you don't mind taking it all to bits.
Replacing the lock takes about an hour

Thanks chaps, l must admit l have not seen that video before only the older models. I am hoping it is just muck built up as when l used spray polish, it worked well for about a day.
That said £160 is not the end of the world. Thank you all very much. |

There is also this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIZmJFqoDKk by the same people. This goes through the whole process including the individual lock motor replacement. Also mentioned on another thread that the motors get grease on the commutator and that stops them working, they just need to be cleaned. This is what I did a few weeks ago, getting the motor apart is the most difficult part.
