Hi, when the engine is cold the Bendix doesn't always engage the flywheel to turn the engine over for two or three attempts. OK when warm. I suspect that some lubrication is required after I have cleaned the shaft, what should I use,copper-ease, graphite etc?
Advice welcome.

A very "light oiling" or graphite powder should do it- I would avoid any form of grease as it can pick up dust/dirt.

Can' find graphite powder locally so a pencil will have to be offered up in sacrifice!

That should do the trick!

Got my last one from https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/lubricants/7031086/

Seems good value with delivery included.

As luck would have it I found some graphite oil in the back of the garage. That and some of my graphite powder should do the job. If not its back to the head scratching.

Job done,all A OK
