How to Powerflex a V70/S60 wishbone

Bushes on my 2004 v70 D5 (160k miles) are shot - mot advisory 2 years running, now tramlining badly, and front tyres paying the price (they were useless anyway, needed replacement, so not unduly worried that they were "wasted"). So, having just replaced tyres, bushes are immediate next. Have followed this (and other) threads, and did think of replacing both front and rear bushes on each arm, so all advice here being assimilated. Doing a bit of web browsing (as you do) for Powerflex bushes, and these popped up.

The cost difference is not great, so the temptation is to go for replacement arms with bushes already fitted.

Any opinions?

I have just Powerflexed my wishbones (well nearly!) and all I used was a bench vice and a G clamp, it isn't difficult, just time consuming the first time you do it

As for those wishbones, the thing to remember is if the rubber bushes fitted are cheap, you will have to replace them again in 12 months, or as my dad always says, "buy cheap, buy twice" (granted this doesn't apply to everything, but it does to Volvo S60/V70 suspension parts)

If you are looking to keep you Volvo for a long time, go with the Powerflex bushes

Got the Powerflex bush set, dismantled front end of car, followed Martyinrpeachy excellent guide, but came up with two snags. First that the bush outer (and only) "skin" is the metal tube that is pressed into the arm, so took ages to remove all rubber and get ready for new powerflex bush. Second is proving to be a bit of a game-stopper. Having retrieved the pin and burned off all rubber (angle-grinder with cutting disc helped enormously, and very gentle too), my pin is parallel-sided, not dumbell shaped. It's unlikely the Powerflex bushes will fit, as dimensions all wrong.

Any one got any suggestions, please, as car is off road until sorted - and without spending a fortune!!!

It won't fit mate.

What you need to do is grind the bar into the correct shape for the bush. I used a sanding pad on an angle grinder to take the majority of the meat off and tidied it up with a bench grinder.
