I am sure the organisers of this great event have worked out the maths, but as we are getting a bit excited in our office (3 of us attending), we decided to CAD model the anticipated 1000 car attendance. based upon 5 columns with a 2 m gap between each car (giving approx 16 m total width) with the track 20 m wide at its narrowest. Which gives 200 rows in total, and allowing 5 m gap between the row in front, that equates to a total length around 1.9 km (1.2 miles). could someone reassure us that there will not be a coming together on one of the bends, especially as we all know the turning circle of a V70 is not the best. Thanks in advance.

I think it might have to be single file? Guiness have to verify they've counted correctly, so that might mean multiple "counting stations" along the mile, with cars being counted and tallied off, possibly against individual car numbers.

Anyone have a rough idea of timings for this?As I understand it Bruntingthorpe can't be accessed until noon and all vehicles must be in by 2p.m. but what happens after that and when? After all Bruntingthorpe must also have a closing time.

Cars will be run in 3 columns over a circuit of 4km...I agree, the P2 turning is legendary for all the wrong reasons lol

Counting the cars through multiple checkpoints along the circuit is essential to officially break the Guinness World Record...Marshalls armed with 'clickers' will count the vehicles as they pass certain distance markers in their columns of three. Keeping speeds down ensures safe car spacing and enables the 'clickers' to keep up accurately lol

IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING DOGS AT THE EVENT

'If you are a dog owner who was planning to bring your four legged friend to Bruntingthorpe on 31st March, please would you read this important announcement. (In full).

Following a complaint made directly to Bruntingthorpe in the past week, we have had to review the decision to admit dogs to the event and where we have previously made statements confirming dogs could attend, we regretfully need to inform you that dogs will no longer be allowed onsite or admitted into the event.

The event team have regular cadence and update meetings with Bruntingthorpe management. The review of the compliant and the higher than expected number of vehicles and people expected to be on site, has heighten the risk and our public liability insurer was not prepared to underwrite this increased risk.

We will over the next few days update past posts to reflect this revision to the meeting, we hope with time in front of us you can make alternative plans to accommodate this revised position. In the interim please would you share this post with attendees you may know who had planned on bringing their dogs to the event.

I sincerely apologise for the change but above all else, your safety and that of others attending the day remains the event teams top priority.

Kindest regards
Millsy'

Thank you for the reply.

Having re-modelled with 3 columns, and allowing 5 m between rows we know have a convoy 3.15 km long (1.9 miles), and made up of 333 rows, which means we have less than 1 km between the front row and the last row, assuming every row sets of one at a time as opposed to all at once, is there a danger that the front rows will have to stop behind the last row as they have run out of track before the last row can set off?

Just interested to have your thoughts as we watch this challenge grow to what appears significant numbers.
