Post XC60 - 2019 "light remain on in position Auto all the day

Dear Member,

I am new in this Forum, I hope that the cooperation between Volvo's owner will e total, in the respect of each other.

I bought a new Volvo XC60 with Polestar , it is always under warranty, I wanted just to see if someone else faced the same issue I see withing some days ago.

in fact I always drive with the stalk switch rotating ring in the position, auto, and the light is on automatically on dark and switched off in the daylight, but I remark these days that even with this Auto position, the light remain on all the day, and even in the Bord, the navigation think this is the night and chage the background to the night one.

I suspect a last automatically sw upgrade done around 15th Sept was the cause, but need to know if someone faced the same issue.

Thank you for your reply, and again I am happy to join this Forum.

Thumbs up Thank you

Thank you for your replay,

I believe I missed to explain well my issue, in fact when I let the the switch in Auto mode which means switch ON the light in the Night and switch it OFF in the Day light but in my Car, this function did not work as designed and the light Are switched ON all the time (night & day) since i think the last upgrade SW, this can be also pure coïncidence.

Best Regards,

Bouchaib

Just to summarise for our understanding, please correct if I am wrong:
  • You have the light switched to "Auto"
  • Headlights are on all the time (in daylight and in the dark)
  • the infotainment and driver information display are always in the night mode (maps have the dark background for example)

If this summary is right, then something is not right with the car. It would seem to be a problem the ambient light sensor (mounted in the windscreen). It's unlikely to be a hardware issue but could be a software issue. You should talk to whoever does your service.

You haven't got a mat, or towel, or map or anything lying on the dashboard and covering the sensor have you?

I have not heard of this problem on the forums before.

This is my understanding of what he has said, yes.

The sensor is in the intellisafe shroud, unless there's something on the windscreen it's not possible to leave something against the sensor.

Ah, OK, I thought it was that little sensor and flashing light in the centre of the dashboard nearest to the windcreen. I am sure I have thrown something up there before and the dash has dimmed - maybe that was on a previous Volvo....

Smile Thank you very much

Hello,

Your understanding is 100% correct, you summaries the situation better than me.

Thank you very much, I understand that I need to bring the car to the local service to check the issue.

Much appreciate your reply.

I'm not sure you're correct. On my last ( 2017 V90) I had the issue of of the panels going into 'night mode' . It turned out that my blue badge on the dashboard was covering the sensor.

To the OP. Check that there's nothing covering the sensor on the dashboard just below the windscreen. It will take seconds.
