Default Ticking noise

Hi to you all, this is my first post being a new member and all that.

I have a strange ticking noise from the passenger foot well area / behind the dashboard.
The weird thing is that it only occurs at 55mph or more.
The best way to describe the noise is to imagine the speedo cable had come loose and was rotating behind the dash hitting a piece of plastic.
It isn't the speedo cable, as the car does not have one.

Car is a 2005, V50, 2.0D Sport if that is of any consequence.

TIA

I take from the lack of responses that this is not a common fault.
Oh well lets see what the dealer can come up with.

Hi,

Obviously not a known issue to those here..

Have you tried turning the heater/cooler fan off to see if the sound is still there?
Does the sound/ticking increase with engine revs or speed?

I have had "ticking" caused by leaves caught in the vent system..
Just an idea..

Welcome to the forums too... Enjoy the stay..

Des. . .

Same here with leaves - could be that the air pressure at 55mph is enough to force the leaves to move in the vents!

I blew mine out by cycling all the controls, closing a few vents etc.
