C30 1.6D Engine service Urgent(DPF/ADM related)
Hi all.
First poster so please forgive me for talking about what my searching shows is a much discussed topic. Chain of events. (although I don't think first set of events relates to second but putting it out there incase someone knows more than me) -Car driving fine on a 100mile trip from london to Norfolk -Journey home went for an overtake on a country road and at 3000rpm engine cut out. Coasted to a stop and restarted engine. -Found quiet stretch of road and revved it again and again same thing happened. -Kept revs nice and low and started googling for answers. -Google/ This forum Suggested Fuel filter and seen as I was due to service the car anyway bought one along with the other usual items for a service. -before I had the chance to service the car it started holding revs at 3k instead of cutting out. Pulled cleanly up to 3k but then just stopped. -Changed fuel filter and all went away and it worked fine. -Refueled car and Engine service System Urgent message came up on dash along with Red warning triangle/light. -More googling and I discovered the fact my car had a Eolys tank that needs topping up! -So off to eBay I go and buy a refill kit and top the tank up. It took the whole litre of liquid! -Car has at this point done 78,000 miles so as much as i'm happy to serve cars out on the road changing a DPF is a bit much so I book it in to a local DPF specialist who is going to replace the DPF for me. -Drop car off and warn them the tank has been refilled and will need resetting when they do the diagnostic check so not to worry about quoting for a refill. -That beings me to now. They have just rang and said the ADM module is showing up as faulty on there system and that its £460 for a new one plus fitting! I've told them to not bother and i'll do it myself and get the code reset later on. Having a search round here suggests that it could just be a case of unplug and plug back in! Is it just a case of replace it and the fault code goes away along with the light or will it still need a plug into a VIDA system to be reset? |

The only thing I'm aware of is that VIDA needs told that you've refilled the tank. It also needs told that the DPF has been replaced.
I'm not aware of a method to tell it that the tank itself has been replaced. At 78k miles your car is due a new DPF and a tank top-up (due every 75k). The EOLYS tank should be topped up every 37.5k miles.

I need to speak to the garage to find out what Diagnostic equipment they are using to see if they are just getting a generic ADM fault code or specific using the VIDA system. Assuming it is the actual Module itself thats gone faulty and a simple unplug and plug back in doesn't work, does anyone know if the ford one is the same or will I need to find a Volvo one? I only ask As eBay has a couple of Ford ones for sale but no Volvo ones. Anyone near to Borehamwood North London with a VIDA system they would be prepared to plug into my car for me and see whats flagging up? Last edited by chunkytfg; Apr 24th, 2019 at 11:34. |

Next question.
Who knows where the ADM module actually is? This one. http://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts...ilter/1042333/ |

Well to update this thread incase anyone finds it via google etc at a later date.
Took the car to Volvo Watford for an hours Diagnostic check to find out what actually needed fixing as I wasn't convinced the garage that changed the DPF were using VIDA. Turns out the fault code was just where everything needed resetting after the DPF and Eolys fluid were changed/filled! Now I just need to speak to the garage that changed the DPF to find out what they would like to do about my £156 bill for something they should have been able to do themselves! For the record JEM/Cats2U.co.uk are who I used for the DPF change and can't recommend Volvo Watford highly enough for the service I got. |
