Is it bearings in the gearbox or the intermediate bearings on the drive shaft? If it’s the latter they are a relatively easy and cheap repair

It turned out to be the bearings in the gearbox where tye driveshaft goes in. Said the bearing casing was worn super thin and I was quite lucky it didn't collapse completely as that would have caused serious damage with the driveshaft banging around! New bearing, gearbox given a once over and fresh oil, new clutch....now drives like new, no noise at all and has made my wallet a fair bit lighter haha.

How has yours turned out?

Hmm....I haven’t done mine yet so yet to see. I will be surprised if it’s the same problem as we have different gearboxes. I am getting mine on the ramp at work this weekend and tackling the job. I will post here with the outcome.

There's 2 bearings on the long drive shaft. Check the one nearer the diff has been changed.

Ok, so wheel bearings, shocks (B4’s), top mounts, top mount bearings, drop links and wishbones changed on both sides. Car now drives like new again and the noise is gone.

The bearing was rumbling when turned by hand and the top mount bearing fell apart when dismantled. I would say both of these contributed to the noise.

Just the back shocks to change when they come (on back order with PFV) and then we will be all done....for now😉
