Style of driving also has an effect. Going easy on the pedals and bends will increase your mpg. Having the windows up (less drag) and avoiding up-hills or taking advantage of going down-hill is also a plus.

Though I like filling up - having less in the tank will also save you some money.

Reversing into your park, so that you can just drive out will also save you a lot. When the engine is cold reversing consumes more fuel and besides you may have to engage the gear several times before you drive away --its ware and tire also.

Moving off with gear two will also save you some fuel.

We all know about tyre pressure and unwanted loads in the car!

On the whole your tyres and parts will last longer - Pardon me for crying out loud, where are we all racing to? If you want to race legally try Go-Karting or a race club that has a private track!
Of those of you that cry, 215/45/18 tyres are too expensive this style of driving will make your tyres last twice as much LONGER – you will then be able to change it when it is due. HOW DOES THIS SOUND?

On the flip side if you drive like a nun certainly with a diesel it will clog up with crud and economey will be reduced anyway so they do need some blasts every now and then.
