Whats this aerial for?
I thought this aerial was for the radio, but I think the aerial for that is built into the rear load area offside window - there are elements on the glass which look like the rear window heating elements so I'm assuming this is the radio aerial. I havent got the phone option fitted, nor have I got the Sirius radio - the accessories website shows this aerial as the sirius antenna. I havent had a look under the headlining to see if there are any electrical connectors plugged into it yet either. Any clues?

You are right the aerial for the radio is in the O/S/R load compartment window. The shark fin on the roof only comes into play if you have built in SATNAV when it becomes the SATNAV aerial.

I think im going to have a look under the headlining to see if there are any connectors plugged in. Trouble is if there are, that will only make me dig deeper to find out what the plugs are connected too at the other end!!

It is fitted to all vehicles regardless of whether it is used or not.

I think ones without Sat Nav are just empty boxes without the aerial purely for styling. I'd love someone to do an aftermarket sat nav that can be fitted where the standard fit one goes, something running Win CE would be ideal as then you could stick Tom Tom on but have never come across anything.

The ariel on the roof is also used for the telephone if fitted.

Hidden or visible?
There is the retrofittable visible one. The hidden one can only be hidden after a certain modelyear. I think that was 2009 or 2010.
