Default Fruitier exhaust for C70 D5

Hi all, was wondering if there is a fruitier off-the-shelf exhaust for the C70 D5. I see Milltek list for the C30 & V50 D5 but not for the C70 D5. Not after silly loud, just a bit fruitier to liberate that lovely 5 cylinder sound a bit more. Have done a Google search to no avail.

I love my Jetex cat-back unit but that's on a T5. I've no experience of a sports system on a D5 I'm afraid.

Default Ferrita exhaust.

I stock Ferrita's Swedish made stainless cat back for the C70 T5 which will fit the D5.

You can find it here on my website: http://kalmar-union.com/parts/volvo-s40v50c30c70-all/

The price includes VAT and UK mainland delivery.

Don.

I've listened to sound clips of the Ferrita systems and they sound very nicely muted revealing just a tad more noise without sounding rough.

Diesels are very different and don't produce the same type of noise, with sports exhausts they seem to sound slightly deeper/gruff and reveal the sound of the turbo spooling. I've only ever seen diesels with no silencing whatsoever sounding 'sporty' as it were.

Thanks for the replies
Listening to D5s on Youtube (search "D5 exhaust") they're actually not that noisy with no silencing so I'll get a local exhaust fabricator to make one in stainless from the cat back; probably a short straight-through silencer in the middle to take the edge off of the noise, then split into two straight pipes at the rear as per the original.

Well, took the C70 to Maidstone Exhaust Centre yesterday, we decided to keep the centre resonator of the stock exhaust & cut the pipe on the straight section just after that, so that the original rear section of exhaust can be re-fitted if required in the future. They then fabricated a splitter & straight pipes to either side of the car as per the original layout with some nice, not over-large tips, all in stainless for £240 incl.
How does it sound? Well it has a lovely pronounced burble at idle, reminiscent of a V8, but then seems to quieten as the revs rise & is a little bit louder toward the top-end. Took it for a long spin after having it fitted; there's a slight boom when you throttle-off & it's very slightly louder inside the cabin, but not irritatingly so on a long journey. No resonance either. Surprisingly it hasn't made the turbo louder, maybe the resonator absorbs that sound. Seems to be the right balance between sporty & too loud for my taste

Good result! You may find it will tone down very slightly as it carbons up - mine did.

Unfortuately on turbocharged engines the turbocharger silences most of the induction roar and exhaust, and on diesels they sound different anyway so you're not going to get anything too rorty. Ironically the best sounding C70 I've every heard was a 2.4i with sports exhaust and K&N filter mods. Still slow though...

When I had the exhaust done last year in October it was too cold to have the roof down & my initial impressions were as posted above. However, when I finally managed to get the roof down this year, that impression changed completely -with the roof down & a bit of right foot I can only describe what comes out the back as a "proper dirty noise" -having the roof down (or even the window(s) open) amplifies things somewhat
