Default volvo v50 t5

There is a V50 T5 manual for sale cheap by me and tempted to buy, its an 04 with 77k and only £1795 part history and gleaming black.
Are they 4wd or was that an option?
I have not seen it yet, i just want a fast reliable car with space.
Any things i should check bar the normal 2nd hand car stuff?
Thanks

4WD (AWD) was an option - very rare. Good luck!

I believe the 2.5 Turbo engine for the T5 is the same as the ST, yes.

Low mileage and an absolute bargain, the car is rare as it is!

Great tuning potential from the Volvo T5 engine (which the Ford Focus ST uses).

sounds good snap it up if you can. make sure its been well looked after and has met oil changes etc as T5's do require TLC. if it has been remapped you will want to change the timing belt around 90k

They did come in all wheel drive but that is rare and heavier, but you don't really need it in this country.

Same engine as the ST

+1 to above, dont worry about AWD too much, you will be better without it as for parts and service issues (ask me how I know ).
77k is very little (not to say odd) for 2004 car. especially for such little money. Make sure you inspect it thoroughly, Im just a bit sceptical but thats my nature.
Suspension parts may need some refreshing (lower control arm bushings, shocks etc) and I would change TB straight away if never done - 13 years is a lot, regardless of mileage, IMO.
Have a listen to exhaust manifold squeak (yep, they do that) when revving up - may mean pretty expensive/time consuming work to sort out.
fingers crossed and good luck!

The sad thing is, in reality, these cars just aren't worth much.

I picked up a 2006 black S40 T5 SE Sport with 84k on the clock for £1900 back in February. It's got auto wipers, auto dimming rear view mirror, high performance sound system, 18" medusa alloys, xenons, rear booster seats with full service history. It was due a cambelt and had a squeak from the alternator belt (he didn't know where it was coming from, but I did) and lacked boost (I knew this was TCV related) when I viewed it, so used those as strong haggling points but even so, bargain.

I took it to Volvo, got all the belts replaced, new turbo control valve and a health check. I was waiting to be told it's a lemon and to my relief nothing else was advised.

It passed it's first MOT under my ownership last week with only one minor advisory as well.

If the car in question checks out OK, I wouldn't worry about how cheap it is - They're real bargains

Yep, your probably right, those just dont have much value. But out of all (4) T5s currently available for sale in Ireland, lowest milage is 98k , and prices vary from 2-3K for pre lift to 5.5k (!) for T5Rspec 2008.
I suppose in UK you have much bigger choice so price is also lower, in that case if 77k is genuine, its a real bargain!

There is not much choice over here either.

Most people though (including myself to be honest) far prefer the Focus ST, even though they are around 80% the exact same car.

You pay around £5 over here for a 100k mile, tidy 2006 Focus ST - Ridiculous.
