Another Boot Lid won’t open question
Hi all,
S40, 2007. I changed the wiring loom in the boot about 5 years ago when the boot wouldn’t open... Here I am again, I guess the same problem... but as it’s only 5 years old, I’m wondering if it could be the micro switch instead? The removal and reconnecting of the connector in the micro switch and also the connection of the loom under he parcel shelf does not open the boot... does that suggest it’s not the loom or the microswitch?! Both number plate lights are not working either. Thanks all Ben |

Hey
Have not experienced problems with wiring loom, but had problems with boot switch.. A while before it died it had to be pressed quite hard to work, and after that for last week before compete failure it worked intermittantly. Also have experienced nuber plate connection corrosion which stopped them from working. Have you checked if you get voltage at all to the lights? Maybe it could be some fuse.. 5 years for a wiring loom seems a bit short life span for me, if it indeed is the wiring, I would dig deeper to find out why it died... |

wiring loom...
Hi all,
Yesterday I stripped the wiring loom out and indeed there are three snapped wires, and one almost gone. Question is... how can I tell which wires should connect back together? I cant see any numbers on the wires, and they are all black! Is there any way to figure that out? Thanks Ben |

A wiring diagram is the only way. And access to both ends of the loom, with a multimeter to measure
Otherwise, use a wiring diagram and a multimeter and switch on the various circuits one at a time to find which wire does what.
