Unhappy S40 2005 revs like clutch slip

Hi guys,

Bought my old s40 back from a family member and it was dropping thick black smoke like no tomorrow. Found the main intercooler pipe was split so I replaced it and no more black smoke. The problem now is when you get into third and above the rev’s go shooting up like the clutch slips but I am pretty sure it’s not the clutch. No smell of clutch and if you put the handbrake on try to pull away in 5th there is no slipping.

The turbo sounds very loud and i’m Starting to think the split pipe has wrecked it. It has been split for probably a year.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

It’s your clutch, this is a known issue. I had this with my V50, you could drive around happily but in the higher gears I used to get Rev flaring when it was under load. You’ll need to replace the entire clutch assembly.

Agree got to be the clutch, nothing else likely to cause those symptoms. I would get a clutch kit that comes with a clutch slave cylinder as a matter of course, as these can fail. Mine did leaking into the bell housing, and caused clutch slip.

Default S40, 2007 Starting issues

Hi guys

My car has got some intermittent starting issues. Sometimes it starts well, sometimes it starts with a very low idle like it wants to cut off. Sometimes it cranks ,doesn’t start but if I press gas pedal it starts. I have these error codes
DIM-DF13 -CAN bus H signal too high intermittent fault
CEM-6C43-start control module SCU faulty signal(intermittent fault)
DE01-Communication with BCM control module signal missing.(intermittent fault)

Anyone experienced similar problems or have an idea what could be the problem
